Marwick magazine

Award-winning magazine by KPMG Czech Republic provides an overview of current topics that are important for businesses in the Czech Republic and beyond. It is issued two to four times a year. Total circulation of 8000 pcs (in 2019).

The magazine's layout is designed for slow journalism. It is somewhat less disruptive; there is a preference for wider lines rather than 'newspaper-like' narrow paragraphs and white-spacing is added for breath. A consistent grid system is maintained and a typeface specially designed for newspapers was carefully picked.

Original illustrations by Alphonse de Neuville and Édouard Riou from Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea (from 1869), which were scanned from a 50-year-old book and used in one of the issues of Marwick in an article about futurists.

The photos for all articles were taken by Barbora Mráčková in many different locations. She generally tried to capture the person being interviewed in their natural environment - like the picture above of Chemist Hana Macíčková Cahová outside her laboratory.
